About Me

Located in the beautiful Castle Rock, Colorado, a dance lover and enthusiast, Miss Mia Kay has been immersed in the dance world for over 20 years in many aspects including; student and professional dancer, instructor and choreographer, administrative assistant and full-time studio manager/director positions, to guest speaker. 

Miss Mia loves spending her spare time with friends, family, church activities, traveling, rodeo, Country Swing/Two-Step & Line Dancing, and with her pet cat Moose.

Background & Experience

Chicago Ballet Dancer

Miss Mia has worked in administration and management in the dance world for over a decade. Five of those years were spent as Studio Manager for

Colorado Ballet Society under the direction of Patricia Hoffman where Mia managed the studio and assisted in implementing Praise Dance Ensemble,

Sparkle Dance Program Administrator, the Teacher Assistant Program, and the National Honor Society for Dance Arts Secondary Chapter. 

 

While with Colorado Ballet Society, Mia aided in facilitating several teacher training workshops hosted at CBS including: Progressing Ballet Technique,

ABT Teacher Training Workshop and Acrobatic Arts Teacher Training Workshop.

She was also on the committee for Southern Colorado Children’s Arts Festival for several years where she coordinated local studios to perform each year.

 

In 2019 & 2020, Mia was a guest speaker for Christian Dance Educators Leadership Summit (CDELS) founded, hosted and led by Ballet 5:8 (Julianna Slager) where she built connections all over the country and now assists studio owners

locally, nationally and globally.

Training & Education

Mia began her dance training around the West Michigan area at a young age with the Academy of Dance Arts under the Cecchetti instruction of Debra Burr and at North Ballet Theatre under the Vaganova instruction of Olga Smirnov. At the age of 12, she continued her classical ballet training with Turning Pointe School of Dance under the instruction of Rick and Lara Faucher and Hearts In Step Dance Academy under the instruction of Tassia Johnson and Hannah Sullivan, before moving to Colorado Springs to audition for and join Ballet Emmanuel in a full-time company position.

 

Mia had additional training with Ballet Magnificat! (Kathy Thibodeaux), Grand Rapids Ballet Company (Patricia Barker), and The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago (Ashley Wheater). 

 

While with Ballet Emmanuel, she managed administrative duties, performed, toured, and taught master classes and workshops all over the United States. Mia has directed several ballet, contemporary and worship dance productions in the Colorado Springs area, choreographed, coached (Youth American Grand Prix & Denver Ballet Guild) and taught throughout Colorado.

 

In 2016, Mia received her certification in Level One Dance Injury & Prevention by Perfect Form Physiotherapy (Lisa Howell). In 2018 she became a certified and licensed Progressing Ballet Technique Instructor.
